Anatomy of Planning A Yard
A Walk Through Our Process
Initial Consultation
Let's start a conversation! Either by phone, or in person, we want you to share your dream with us so we can start to put it to paper. Here are some items we will cover during the initial consultation:
I. Size and Scope - How large is your property? What parts of the yard need work? And what is your dream for the project- how do you see it used, what special features do you want included, etc?
II. Timeline - Is your new yard project planned around a special event or to have ready for a certain season? These time constraints and deadlines are very important to us.
III. Budget - How much do you want to spend on your project? Our job is to make sure that the plan is in harmony with your specific budget.
Quote Building
Once we have the details of your project, we can start to build a quote to get you an accurate assessment for what things are going to cost and how long the project will take.
Depending on the scope of the project, we can have a quote ready the same day or within a few weeks for larger projects.
Reviewing The Quote
Once your quote is ready, we will contact you to walk through all the details so we're on the same page. We want to take the necessary steps to make your dream a reality.
Understanding Utah Landscaping Costs
A well informed decision is the first step to peace of mind. We have loved creating and building amazing yards in Utah for more than 50 years and we have re-built more than we have started from scratch. We have seen firsthand the effects of companies taking shortcuts and have spent time and money rectifying those mistakes and shortcuts. We know that in order to have a yard last for many years it must be built using the best quality materials and methods.
Labor
Does the team know what they are doing? We have the most intensive training system in the business to ensure the highest standards of work. They are knowledgeable, hard working and happy.
Supervision and a long company legacy support that team. There is always someone to talk to to get questions answered and we have been here for over 50 years. We are not going anywhere and you can always find us.
Understanding Quotes
A quote is used as a reference point, based on an initial meeting or consultation. Quotes can be re-written, modified, changed, and updated to suit whatever your needs are. No quote is permanent until a contract agreement is signed. Until then, any requested changes to any quote can be made.
Material
What materials will be used? When planting a tree or laying sod for example, there is more than just the tree or the sod at play. There are fertilizers, soil amendments, and irrigation decisions that go into it. A stone patio is not just laid on dirt but requires an intricate base and weed barriers for lasting success and future maintenance.
Quality and size are also a factor. Are we planting a 3 foot tree or a 15 foot one? Is it from a reputable nursery that specializes in quality? Is soil being brought in and is the soil used a good quality? Is it rich in organic material and weed free or is it just repurposed fill dirt?
Price Comparisons
When comparing bids, know exactly what you are getting in each case- compare apples to apples. We love to discuss bids so you know what they include. We also love to discuss bids of our competitors and often are able to match prices assuming they match up.
Scope and Process
A good question may be what is your process?... for laying sod for example. Is old sod removed? Is the ground tilled and raked to get rid of rocks and other debris? Is the soil amended and if so with what and is it cooked to be weed free? Is the sprinkler system being reworked or even redone? What kind of sod is being installed and will it be as green as my neighbor’s? Will the newly laid sod be flat and level and will the seams be tight? Process is everything when we talk of future success of a landscape and ease of maintenance.
